Public Engagement

I am open to opportunities to contribute to public debate/media programmes on my areas of expertise: refuge and asylum (particularly in the UK context), digitisation of border controls, and the questions of responsibility, agency, and rights that these give rise to.

Please get in touch via the Contact Me page.

I am the Co-Founder, and currently Co-Director of the Centre for the Critical Reimagining of Human Rights, at the University of St Andrews.

The CCRHR is an interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities focused human rights centre which centres creative and reflective practice in human rights research and advocacy.

I’m also now a podcaster! I host the State of Asylum podcast, which is available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Each State of Asylum episode takes the form of a conversation between experts by experience and experts by practice/research, to explore the challenges of – and bust common myths about – the UK asylum system.

We currently have 4 episodes live – on Sanctuary, Detention, Housing, and Right to Work – and we are in the planning phase to add 5 more episodes in the next few months. Click the buttons below to listen.
